MADE IN MONTEBELLUNA

FEIT TREK 87.5% is made in the Montebelluna Sportsystem region, located in the foothills of the Italian Alps.

Long recognized as the outdoor sports manufacturing capital of the world, I built my first design team in Montebelluna in 1998 and returned in 2022 with the goal of building the world's most natural trekking shoe for FEIT.

Utilising the technical experience of the region, we have minimized the use of synthetics, creating a trekking shoe that is made from 87.5% natural materials. Engineered from Vibram's new no-oil compound outsole, vegetable-tanned leather upper and insole and natural latex cushioning, the shoe represents a combination of FEIT's expertise in natural material development and the region's rich manufacturing heritage.

The goal of TREK 87.5% project was not simply to make another hiking shoe, but to create the most natural trekking shoe possible in a world dominated by synthetics without compromising function, comfort and durability. FEIT approached the category from the opposite direction—through reduction, material honesty, and long-term durability without relying on synthetics and plastics.

Each component was reconsidered through the lens of natural composition and longevity using the technical knowledge of the Montebellyna <<Sport System>> region. Vegetable tanned leather nourished with beef tallow upper and lining for its breathability, durability, and ability to mold naturally to the wearer over time. Natural latex cushioning replaces conventional synthetic foam, offering flexibility and comfort without relying on heavily processed petroleum materials. Underfoot, FEIT worked alongside Vibram to develop a N-OIL (no-oil) outsole compound engineered specifically for the demands of outdoor movement while reducing dependence on fossil-fuel-based inputs.

We've developed what we believe is the most natural outdoor trekking shoe made 87.5% natural by composition.

The result are two silhouettes that are not simply hiking shoes made differently, but a fundamentally different philosophy of performance footwear. One that values repairability over disposability, natural aging over artificial coatings, and materials that improve with wear rather than deteriorate. The 87.5% figure represents both a technical achievement and a design constraint, a commitment to pushing natural shoemaking as far as possible within the demands of modern outdoor use.
