The Moc Chukka X Ray is a hand sewn, on the last moccasin built on a transparent sole, which highlights the custom Feit Hand Sewn Good Year construction, as well as the shoe's internal components.
The transparent brings 3 major internal components into plain view – the bamboo shank, cork foot bed and thread weave.
The natural bamboo shank used in the mid foot provides strength and support where it is most needed. The cork foot bed is an all-natural, lightweight material used for absorption and flexibility. The thread weave can be seen travelling in and out, around the perimeter of the sole. Each stitch is hand sewn, joining the upper the sole. This technique provides maximum strength, flexibility and breathability. It is an age-old footwear construction greatly lost in footwear today, replaced, unfortunately, by cheaper cemented constructions.
The material we have chosen to build this shoe in is Horween Chromexcel leather.
Produced by Chicago's famed Horween leather company, Horween Chromexcel is made by traditional techniques developed over 100 years ago. The hide undergoes over 80 different processes and takes nearly 1 month to produce. This results in a rich hand rubbed finish renowned for its comfort and durability. A small amount of French calk skin lining is used around the eyelets and other details.
This shoe is laced with a square leather lace.
High quality transparent rubber, reinforced with Vibram tread. Durable and flexible, it is suitable for urban terrain. The X Ray sole is not designed to be worn in the snow.
Vibram is the world's leading outdoor sole manufacturer. It's a company with a history of innovation and quality from 1936. Check out vibram.com
The Moc Chukka X Ray is a hand sewn, on the last mocassin that features a genuine hand made Goodyear welt. A welt refers to a piece of leather which is hand stitched to the upper of a shoe as an attach point for the sole. This process was pioneered by the Goodyear family and is the traditional method for manufacturing men's dress shoes.
The upper of the shoe is stretched over the last and stitched to a leather strip known as a welt. The Vibram sole is then stitched to this welt. This is a labour intensive process performed by expert craftspeople and allows for constant airflow through the shoe aiding ventilation, durability and strength.
Like all FEIT products the Moc Chukka X Ray is hand made.
The Moc Chukka X Ray fits a little large.
