In Depth: Made in Japan Organic Cotton Caps
At FEIT each product begins in nature, designed from the ground up using only natural materials, and constructed by master craftsmen whose techniques are rooted in decades, if not centuries, of tradition. Every item we make is the result of a close collaboration between Tull and a hand-selected team of craftsmen whose skill with certain materials or techniques is often industry-defining.
For our first collection of non-leather products, we worked with Japan’s master milliner Kijima Takayuki, a former student of the legendary Parisian hatmaker Jean Barthet. Since the 1960s Takayuki has worked to establish himself as an industry leader not only in Japan, where he counts the imperial family among his many clients, but around the world.
Our new collection of caps, designed in partnership with Takayuki, has been updated for summer in a soft, breathable cotton. The natural fibers are loosely-woven for a unique, slightly raised texture; and the slouchy, unstructured fit makes these six-panel baseball caps perfect for warm weather while still keeping a tailored look.
Our caps are made in Japan in small quantities and have a unique fit and feel that cannot be replicated through mass production. A vegetable-tanned leather tab is hand-stitched onto the side of each cap, and the soft, flexible brim feels light and loose while providing shade from the sun.
