Introduced for the first time this season, the Hand Sewn Ballet Mule is FEIT’s interpretation of our classic Hand Sewn Ballet as an open-back mule. It features a luxurious semi-cordovan leather one-piece upper with a modern “choked-up” silhouette and a slim leather sole. The upper is hand sewn onto a leather midsole, which is then filled with two layers of inherently flexible and breathable cork. A lightweight and strong bamboo shank stabilizer is utilized in the midsole, and a buffalo leather outsole finishes this shoe, used for its dual qualities of flexibility and strength. These all-natural components are designed to keep the wearer balanced and connected to the ground beneath their feet.
This FEIT low-pile English suede is vegetable-tanned and therefore breathes as in nature. It is non-irritant, soft to touch, ages richly over time, and biodegrades. The leather remains neutral regardless of the temperature, and does not retain sweat or odor, allowing FEIT shoes to be worn barefoot and get better with age.
All FEIT shoes are made from start to finish by one master craftsman. The one-piece upper is sewn by hand directly to the midsole. A cork footbed and a bamboo shank stabilizer is added, then the leather outsole is cemented to the midsole using a natural, water-based glue. We refer to this process as a modified hand-sewn Goodyear construction.
Goodyear construction ensures all FEIT shoes can be resoled.
Each pair of FEIT shoes comes with an extra set cork and buffalo leather insoles to assist with in-between sizing. The additional leather insole can be used alone, or the cork can be inserted underneath the leather for extra padding. If you are between sizes, you can either size up and use the included insoles, or size down and use no additional insoles.
