These backless shoes popularized by the Dutch, and today known as clogs, quickly spread throughout Europe as a utilitarian work shoe. Originally designed for protection in harsh elements, FEIT’s interpretation is as versatile as its ancestors. Designed with international climate in mind, the Shearling Clog features a solid Vibram® sole and custom metal hardware made to manipulate for maximum function. Countless cultures have developed their own version of the clog. FEIT’s version features a shearling footbed and inside upper for total warmth in any weather.
Built entirely by hand, the handsewn Goodyear welted construction produces the most durable and flexible product available: functional and resoleable. A hand-plaited embroidery is incorporated to celebrate our makers.
All FEIT shoes are made from start to finish by one master craftsman. The one-piece upper is sewn by hand directly to the midsole. A cork footbed and a bamboo shank stabilizer are added, before cementing the leather outsole to the midsole using a natural, water-based glue. We refer to this process as a modified handsewn Goodyear construction—this method ensures all FEIT shoes can be resoled.
FEIT footwear is mainly built using vegetable-tanned leather. Vegetable-tanned leather breathes as in nature. It is non-irritant, soft to touch, ages richly over time, and biodegrades. The leather remains neutral regardless of the temperature, and does not retain sweat or odor, allowing FEIT shoes to be worn barefoot and get better with age.
