FEIT drew inspiration and reinterpreted our classic Hand Sewn Slipper for this open-back style. Built on a slim sole, it has been elevated with luxury materials and was built with a high level of craft. The Hand Sewn Mule utilizes our signature one-piece upper and our modified hand sewn Goodyear construction. It also features a leather wrap that helps hide the Goodyear’s layered construction.
FEIT footwear is mainly built using vegetable-tanned leather. Our Spring/Summer 2019 version is made from our drum-dyed vegetable-tanned leather – a thick and robust leather softened by the dyeing process. Vegetable-tanned is non-irritant, soft to the touch, ages richly over time, and biodegrades. It breathes as in nature. The leather will remain neutral regardless of the temperature, and does not retain sweat or odor. This allows FEIT shoes to be worn barefoot and enrich with age.
All FEIT shoes are made from start to finish by one master craftsman. The one-piece upper is sewn by hand directly to the midsole. A cork footbed and a bamboo shank stabilizer is added, then the leather outsole is cemented to the midsole using a natural, water-based glue. We refer to this process as a modified hand-sewn Goodyear construction.
Goodyear construction ensures all FEIT shoes can be resoled.
Each pair of FEIT shoes comes with an extra set cork and buffalo leather insoles to assist with in-between sizing. The additional leather insole can be used alone, or the cork can be inserted underneath the leather for extra padding. If you are between sizes, you can either size up and use the included insoles, or size down and use no additional insoles.
