The Hand Sewn Low is our interpretation of a classic court sneaker. Built entirely by hand using FEIT modified Goodyear construction, it features all-natural materials, a one-piece vegetable-tanned leather upper handstitched at the heel, and unlined raw edges. The leather is thick and robust but has been softened by the drum dying process. During construction, the shoe is exposed to light steam and humidity over 10 days, which helps tighten the leather to enhance both the shape and fit.
All FEIT shoes are made from start to finish by one master craftsman. The one-piece upper is sewn by hand directly to the midsole. A cork footbed and a bamboo shank stabilizer are added, before cementing the leather outsole to the midsole using a natural, water-based glue. We refer to this process as a modified handsewn Goodyear construction—this method ensures all FEIT shoes can be resoled.
FEIT footwear is mainly built using vegetable-tanned leather. Vegetable-tanned leather breathes as in nature. It is non-irritant, soft to touch, ages richly over time, and biodegrades. The leather remains neutral regardless of the temperature, and does not retain sweat or odor, allowing FEIT shoes to be worn barefoot and get better with age.
This shoe runs half a size large. An extra set of cork and buffalo leather insoles is included with each pair to assist with in-between sizing. As a general rule, if you are between sizes we suggest sizing down. The additional leather insoles can be used alone, or the cork can be inserted underneath the leather for extra padding. If you are between sizes, you can either size up and use the included insoles, or size down and use no additional insoles.
