Construction

All Feit products are made by hand. Our shoes are hand lasted and hand sewn. No machines are used in the process.

We use a traditional hand sewn Good Year construction as well as a modified Good Year construction developed by Feit. Goodyear Construction involves the upper of the shoe being stretched over the last then stitched to a leather strip knows as a welt. Following this, the sole is then stitched to the welt instead of glued.

Our uppers are composed of only of one piece of vegetable leather. Hand stitching is only used at the heel. The absence of seams ensures comfort and naturally shapes to the foot.

Each shoe is left on the last for up to ten days where a light water stream is let into the room, its moisture falling on the shoes. This process allows the humidity to tighten the shoes on the last, ensuring a superior fit.

Once each pair of shoes is complete they are signed and dated on the inside of the tongue by the master craftsmen who built it.

Materials

All our leathers are sourced from Italian tanneries and are vegetable dyed. No chrome or harmful chemicals are used in our tanning process. The hide remains as close as possible to its natural state. The leather breathes as it does in nature. It is non-irritant, soft to the touch, ages richly over time and is biodegradable.

Shoes are fitted with a two piece removable insole. The top vegetable leather buffalo sole is supported by a natural cork footbed.
